The Erbium resurfacing laser and Fraxel laser can be used to improve the profile of raised (hypertrophic) scars. Flat red scars may respond best to the Pulsed-dye laser. This uses pulses of green laser light to treat the small blood vessels which feed the scar tissue. It also stimulates changes in the collagen which results in an improved texture, pliability and cosmetic appearance. Laser treatment does not completely eliminate scars or stretch marks. But it can markedly improve their appearance and texture and eliminate symptoms such as itching. Keloids and hypertrophic scars are often treated with a combination of therapies such as Erbium laser recontouring or Fraxel laser, Pulsed Dye laser treatments for redness and texture, and injections to reduce thickened scar tissues.

Warts occurring on the skin can be effectively treated by a variety of techniques. When they occur in difficult locations such as under toenails or fingernails or on the soles of the feet, treatment can be difficult. The pulsed-dye laser is useful in treating these difficult warts. It targets the blood vessels that feed the wart from underneath. Cut off from its blood supply, the wart is eliminated.
